DIY Calendula Infused Oil

Calendula oil is one of the easiest herbal infusions to make and a wonderful base for salves, balms, body oils, and gentle skincare.

What You’ll Need

  • Dried calendula flowers (enough to fill a jar loosely)

  • Carrier oil of choice - Sweet almond, olive, sunflower, or jojoba all work well

  • Clean glass jar with lid

  • Fine strainer, cheesecloth or coffee filter

  • Clean bottle or jar for storage

Note: Dried flowers are best for oil infusions. Using fresh flowers can introduce moisture and increase the risk of spoilage.

Instructions (Slow Infusion Method)

  1. Fill the jar
Loosely fill a clean, dry glass jar with dried calendula flowers.

  2. Add oil
Pour your carrier oil over the flowers until completely submerged. Make sure all plant material is covered.

  3. Infuse
Cap the jar and place it in a warm, dark spot for 4–6 weeks.
Gently shake the jar every few days.

  4. Strain
Once infused, strain out the flowers using a fine mesh strainer, cheesecloth, or coffee filter.

  5. Store
Transfer the finished oil to a clean, labeled bottle. Store in a cool, dark place.
