DIY Calendula Infused Oil
Calendula oil is one of the easiest herbal infusions to make and a wonderful base for salves, balms, body oils, and gentle skincare.
What You’ll Need
-
Dried calendula flowers (enough to fill a jar loosely)
-
Carrier oil of choice - Sweet almond, olive, sunflower, or jojoba all work well
-
Clean glass jar with lid
-
Fine strainer, cheesecloth or coffee filter
-
Clean bottle or jar for storage
Note: Dried flowers are best for oil infusions. Using fresh flowers can introduce moisture and increase the risk of spoilage.
Instructions (Slow Infusion Method)

Fill the jar
Loosely fill a clean, dry glass jar with dried calendula flowers. -
Add oil
Pour your carrier oil over the flowers until completely submerged. Make sure all plant material is covered. -
Infuse
Cap the jar and place it in a warm, dark spot for 4–6 weeks.
Gently shake the jar every few days. -
Strain
Once infused, strain out the flowers using a fine mesh strainer, cheesecloth, or coffee filter. -
Store
Transfer the finished oil to a clean, labeled bottle. Store in a cool, dark place.
